HELEN HOUSE
V.W. BEETLE CAR

A special model has been produced for the 25th anniversary of the Helen House Children's Hospice.

In 1980, a VW beetle became something of an icon in the Oxford area, decorated with hand-painted forgot-me-nots. It carried Sister Frances Dominica far and wide to talk of her vision of creating a hospice with a real home-from-home atmosphere to offer respite and end of life care for very sick children with progressive conditions, and support for the whole family.

Having inspired the public to help, Sister Frances saw Helen House open in 1982. With its forget-me-not logo made famous on the VW Beetle the hospice has helped thousands of children and their families over the years.

In 2007 Helen House will be 25 years old. There are now 39 children's hospices in the UK but this was the very first and will soon feature in a BBC series.

Pasture Promotions has produced a limited edition of only 500 cream 1/43 scale VW Beetles, complete with the forgot me not logo on the front doors. It is attached to a plastic plinth with an acrylic lid to keep the model free from dust.

The model is available directly from the charity at £10.50 each, including postage.
